David Dylan Jessurun: Flyer

Flyer

Role: Design

A flyer for a LARP group, which organises Horror themed events, tongue firmly in cheek.
This flyer was composed from three separate images. Text was done in Illustrator, the final product in Photoshop. The major challenges were properly extracting the young lady from her lively background, including her hair. It took a combination of the Extract filter, advanced masking techniques and pixel-by-pixel editing in quick mask mode.

Her bright blue hat was another issue altogether.

The rest was fairly basic masking, blending and etc. work.

All in all about four hours’ work.

The picture of the gate also had a tourist sign in it, which obviously could not stay. The hair was tricky (and of course, the trickiest part is completely obscured in the final result) but the hat was less than simple also since I wanted to retain some colour. I couldn’t just desaturate the whole image. Desaturating just the hat looked unnatural. It took some work, therefore. You hardly see the hat now, and yes, that was the general idea.
