David Dylan Jessurun: Game platform

Web users are web-builders

Game platform

Role: Maintenance, implementation, HTML/CSS, copy-writing, making/preparing graphics beyond the standard design.

NYSE Optiecompetitie (shown here) is one example of the several stockmarket related game websites IEX built/hosted. When a client wanted a (sponsored) competition I would build the actual site, on top of the existing game platform. Design was usually done by our in-house designer (a free-lancer now, and I heartily recommend him) Michael Kattenbeld. My work included HTML/CSS, writing some copy and implementing the technology in the CMS. These projects commonly had very short turnaround times and would present unique challenges because the platform was old and the existing framework was straight out of the days of tables and frames. (The FAQ still recommended Netscape 4.)

Accomplishments: Keeping/getting these sites up in time was a challenge in itself. Together with an intern I re-coded all the non-CMS dependent pages (FAQ, Rules, etc.) to up-to-date HTML, dramatically reducing turnaround on subsequent competition projects.
