Web users are web-builders

Newsletter 29-11-2009

Dear friend,

Another busy week. If the amount of work is any indication the recession must be over.

This week also saw the sneak preview of the new Hyves.nl homepage, and I must say… it’s bad.
Read about it in my article “The layout must die”. In other news; not much news. Everybody is busy preparing for the upcoming festivities, I guess. Our US friends had a few already, like Thanksgiving. I hope you stuffed yourself without regard for your arteries and cholesterol levels. Once or twice a year it’s ok. It’s still not getting much colder, but it is getting wetter. Now I work from the picturesque town of Zwaag  I’m being granted the full force of mother nature’s ability to drench commuters. But then again, I’m also granted a brief view of the majestic panorama from a dyke overlooking water on one side and land on the other… as the sun comes up… a truly inspiring sight every morning.

I hope you had a great weekend, I did.

Happy web-building!

The layout must die

Web is not print. This is a truism that is (fortunately) gaining ground. Unfortunately, its implications seem to be less clear to developers and designers.

The perfect client questionnaire

Discovering what your clients really want is one of the most fundamental steps in creating a good working relationship. If you can figure out exactly what your clients want for their website up front, it will save both of you time and frustration.

Speech recognition for Bloggers

Speech recognition technology has come a long way in the last few years – in this in depth, informative and inspiring video which Jon Morrow (Associate Editor of Copyblogger and Co-founder of Partnering Profits) shares his first hand insights.
