Web users are web-builders

Newsletter 7-12-2009

It’s still wet out there. Fortunately all I get to see of the outside is through windows as I work my way through an impressive list of waiting projects. Recently I encountered a true AJAX-enthusiast, too. To say he makes life hard for someone who wants to build accessible websites may be an understatement. But it can be done, accessible AJAX, like Flash, is possible.

So I linked to a short, but good, article on AJAX accessibility. I also wrote up some of my tips, the ones that don’t warrant a full tutorial but could be useful nevertheless. Some for Flash even, which may surprise some of you since I have a reputation of a bit of a Flash-hater.

In other news: My article ‘The Layout Must Die‘ suffered some popularity. It was re-tweeted, linked to, debated… unique visitor counters shot up. I used Hyves’ plans for a new home-page as example and, in fact, I saw quite some traffic coming in from Hyves HQ. One of their designers was even kind enough to leave some insightful comments.

Cool!

I hope you had a great weekend. I sure did, and things may just get better still…
